Gusau’s appointment became imperative after the resignation of Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association.

Gasau’s appointment comes a day after the country’s U-20 men’s football national team defeated hosts Egypt 4-1 on penalties in the third-place match of the 2025 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, has lauded the election of the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, to the leadership of the CAF West Africa Football Union(WAFU) B.
The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) created administrative zones to decentralise its functions. The WAFU B sub-region comprises,Nigeria, the Benin Republic Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger and Togo.
Elegbeleye noted that Gusau’s emergence as the leader of the regional football body is a significant indication of the rising influence of Nigeria in African football administration.
“The NPFL Board receives the assumption of our Federation President, Alhaji Gusau to the leadership of the WAFU B Board and wish him and the new executives a successful tenure.
“This development is a very significant indication of the growing influence of Nigeria in football administration in the region and indeed in Africa”, Elegbeleye stressed.
In a related development, in a quest to further showcase Nigerian football talents to the global market, the AMAPRO Football Championship have signed a partnership agreement with EyeBall, a renowned technological and performance data company.
The landmark partnership was announced by Shogo Shodunnke, the brain behind the AMAPRO tournament.

According to Shodunnke, the collaboration is necessary as both parties share a similar vision of giving visibility to young football talents and facilitating their development.

“Collaborating with a renowned organization like EyeBall will enable us to achieve this goal in multiple ways.
“Most participating clubs in the AMAPRO tournament require global visibility, and their players crave a platform to showcase their skills and improve their game to attract bigger opportunities.
“We are confident that this partnership will yield positive outcomes for both parties.”
