COOU’s Prof. Nwobi-Okoye Named Among Top Generic Algorithm Scholars Worldwide

A don at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Chidozie Chukwuemeka Nwobi-Okoye, has been honoured as one of the World’s Highly Ranked Scholars in the specialty of Generic Algorithm.

The honour was conferred by ScholarGPS, a popular scholarly analytics platform.

The certificate of honour signed by Amir Faghri, President and CEO, ScholarGPS, said: “Chidozie Chukwuemeka Nwobi -Okoye is honored as a 2024 Highly-Rankęd Scholar – Prior Five Years in the Specialty of Genetic algorithm as conferred by ScholarGPS in recognition of exceptional productivity, noteworthy impact and quality of scholarly work in the top 0.05% of scholars in the Specialty worldwide.”

In a statement posted on COOU Facebook page, the school management expressed delight over the achievement by one of its Faculty Members.

The school said the honour is in recognition of his productivity, noteworthy impact, and quality of scholarly work.

Dr. Chidozie Nwobi-Okoye, a distinguished Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering, is renowned for his extensive contributions to optimization, artificial intelligence applications in engineering, energy systems modeling, and operations research.

Nwobi-Okoye has played a significant role in advancing research globally, serving as a reviewer for top-tier international journals.

His outstanding service was recognised with Elsevier’s Outstanding Reviewer Award in 2018, and he was nominated for the prestigious ENI Award often referred to as the “Nobel Prize for Energy Research” in 2012.

In 2018, Times Higher Education (THE) named him one of the most highly regarded individuals in academia worldwide and invited him to serve on expert panels for global university rankings in 2018, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the African Journal of Education Science and Technology (AJEST), published by IUCA.

“We excitedly celebrate our Scholars with exceptional breakthroughs in research,” the school stated.

COOU said with the achievements made so far in the areas of academic excellence, and research among others it is taking her pride of place in the comity of Universities around the World. It attributed the improvement of the state-owned institution to efforts by the leadership of the acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha.

Prof. Omenugha initiated the three Vs concept – Values, Visibility and Viability, for driving transformation in the state-owned institution.
