In its quest to contain the spread of COVID-19, especially the OMICRON variant through vaccination, primary health care workers have administered vaccines to people at Ojoto, headquarters of Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The vaccination exercise which took place at the Royal Palace Compound of the king, HRM Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu, Eze OJoto III on Saturday January 15, 2022, was for first or second dose and Booster for those that have taken or yet to take the 1st and 2nd jab.

In an announcement earlier made to that effect, the primary health care workers urged members of the public in the area to seize the opportunity to protect themselves and their families, saying that “God helps those who help themselves.”

The exercise which started by 9 am, had Some first-class chiefs in the town who were present to supervise the vaccination process.

According to records at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) web site as at Saturday January 15 (today), Anambra State has so far recorded 27, 743 confirmed cases, and 19 number of deaths.

According to World Health Organisation (WHO), vaccination and among other measures including, physical distancing, wearing of nose masks and hand washing/hygiene should be holistically adopted in the fight again the virus.
