CHAN 2024: Super Eagles To Begin Close Camping January 6

After  edging out Black Galaxies of Ghana to qualify for the next edition of Championship of African Nations (CHAN), Super Eagles Team B will head into close camping on Monday January 6.

Primebusiness.africa notes that the close camping that will be holding at the Remo Remo Stars Sports Institute at Ikenne, is necessary to enable stand in Coach Daniel Ogunmodede select final squad for the championship billed for February 1 to February 28, 2025.

Consequently 26 players have been invited to begin the close camping.

In what looks like agreeing with the saying that you don’t change a winning horse, Ogunmodede who is partnering with Head coach of reigning league champions Rangers, Fidelis Illechukwu, has settled for the team that defeated Ghana 3-1 in their two legged qualifiers.

Nigeria is hoping to re-establish her presence in the championship meant exclusively for players plying their trade in the local league after six years absence.  Nigeria featured in the 2014, 2016 and 2018 editions.

This year’s edition to be hosted by Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya will the 8th edition in the series and marks the first time it will be co-hosted since inception in 2009.

Senegal are reigning champions of the tournament, after emerging champions at the last edition held in Algeria.
