Three-time AFCON Champions Super Eagles will know their group opponents in the 2025 edition of the continental fiesta on January 27, 2025 it has been revealed.

The Championship which will be staged in Morocco from 21st December, 2025 to 18th January, 2026 will be the 35th edition in the series. Elephants of Cote d Ivoire won the last edition on home soil after a slim victory over Super Eagles of Nigeria in the final.

Continental Soccer ruling body CAF revealed that the draw will hold in Rabat where the 24 teams that qualified for the event will know their groups and Group opponents.

Morocco boasts of world-class facilities, including the iconic Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, which hosted the 1988 AFCON final where Cameroon edged Nigeria 1-0.

Before the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco will host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations (30 March-19 April, 2025) and the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (5-26 July, 2025).

The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is expected to break all records set by the previous edition in Côte d’Ivoire.

The AFCON is now the single biggest event on African soil attracting a television audience of over 1.5 billion and more than 2.4 billion digital streams.

Excellent facilities in Morocco have made the country first choice in hosting rights for major tournaments in the continent.

This has also paid off as Morocco was last month confirmed as co-host of the 2030 FIFA World Cup along with Spain and Portugal.

Morocco last won the Nations Cup in 1976 and has been chasing a second title since then.

The country has come close on several occasions finished runners up once, third place once and fourth place twice.

The closest after the triumph of 1976 was at the 2004 edition in when the country finished as runners up after losing to hosts and eventual winners Tunisia 2-1 at the  November 7 Stadium in Tunis.
