National Assembly Extends 2024 Budget To June 2025

Nigeria National Assembly has extended implementation of the 2024 national budget to June 2025.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, made this known in his opening remarks during presentation of the 2025 national budget by president Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.

Akpabio said the members of the National Assembly have noted the performance of the 2024  budget and in the spirit of service to the country, resolved to extend the implementation of the budget by another six months ( ending June 2025).

“Your Excellency, we have noted the 2024 Budget performance.

“Given this great achievement, we have deemed it necessary to extend the life span of the 2024 Budget to June 30th, 2025,” Akpabio stated.

The Senate President informed the president that the National Assembly will soon send the enabling legislation to him for assent.

“The enabling law for this extension will soon be placed before you for your assent as a testament to our appreciation for the great performance of the budget, ensuring that we build upon your momentum,”    Akpabio stated.

Prime Business Africa reports that President Tinubu on Wednesday, presented a proposed budget of N47.96 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year.

Akpabio noted that the 2025 budget was increased by 50 percent.

Tinubu had on December 2023, presented a proposed budget of N27.5 trillion before the National Assembly. The lawmakers thereafter increased the bill by N1.2 trillion and approved N28.7 trillion for the 2024 Budget.
