Izuchukwu Okosi
Representatives from Nigeria and other African countries will not be on the podium when the 94th edition of the Oscars award is held in March 2022 for a prize in the international Feature Film contest.
Nigeria withdrew from the International Feature Film (IFF) race earlier this year as no submission made the cut according to The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science’s criteria.
The organisers on Wednesday released the shortlists for different categories with African films conspicuously missing from the list.
In 2020, Nigeria’s The Milkmaid, a Desmond Obviagele’s production was submitted to the organisers albeit it failed to make the category’s shortlist.
