Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, has sealed a fresh 3- year contract with South African league side, Chippa United.

Nwabali who was in super form for Super Eagles during the last AFCON in Cote d Ivoire has maintained excellent form going into qualifiers for the next AFCON in Morocco and has also been impressive in his outings for Chippa United.

Though the former Lobi Stars and Wikki Tourist safe hand would have loved to move over to Kaizer Chiefs at the expiration of his contract with Chippa United, he decided to commit to his current club after it became apparent that a move to Kaizer Chiefs fold will not be visible at the moment.

Chippa United, who are not in a hurry to lose the Nigeria international to any club either within South Africa or outside, celebrated the new deal by handing their Nigerian import the Captain’s band.

Nwabali had earlier revealed his love for Kaiser Chiefs who only recently signed Rwanda international, Fiacre Ntwari, from TS Galatasaray.

Nwabali, 28, reflected on his ambitions, saying, “To be honest, Kaizer Chiefs is one of the clubs I want to play for. This is a club that truly captures my interest in South Africa.”

He added, “Kaizer Chiefs is one of the clubs I wanted to play for with all my heart. While I won’t say that I have been a long-time supporter, this club has always resonated with me, and I feel a strong desire to don their colours.”

Recall that Kaiser Chiefs was the former club of Nigeria international and Super Eagles goalie, Daniel Akpeyi. Had Nwabali’s desire to join Kaizer Chiefs worked out, he would have followed the footstep of Akpeyi who also played for Chippa United from 2015 to 2019, before joining Kaizer Chiefs.

He has since left the Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants for Moroka Swallows and Marumo Gallants respectively.
