Olarinoye Adenike Adijat on Thursday night became Nigeria’s second gold medallist at the ongoing IWF World Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, reports Prime Business Africa.

The 2019 Africa Games two-time gold medals winner thus broke a 20 years Nigerian history in the competition having won a silver and two bronze medals already in the IWF Championship. Adijat’s medals all came in the 55kg women category.

With the gold, Adenike has become second Nigerian to clinch gold medal at the Commonwealth championship after Stella Kingsley set the pace on Wednesday winning a gold medal in the 49kg women category.
