The protesters marched in neighbourhoods across the capital Khartoum and the cities of Bahri and Omdurman demanding for the  handover to civilian rule and for those who were the eggheads of the Coup to be tried.

Security forces fired live rounds and used tear gas to disperse the crowd of people with the protestors and police both injured.

Curiously mobile phone communications were cut off in the three protesting cities.

“The coup forces used live bullets heavily in different areas of the capital and there are tens of gunshot injuries, some of them in serious condition,” the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors, a group aligned with the protest movement disclosed adding that deaths were concentrated in Bahri.

In response, protesters built barricades, emptying the streets of traffic, a Reuters witness said.

“People are just terrified right now,” said an Omdurman protester.
