FOLLOWING the declaration that no election was held at Ihiala Local Government Area during the Saturday Governorship election in Anambra State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled Tuesday, 9th November 2021 to conduct a gubernatorial supplementary poll for the LGA only.

In a public service announcement issued on Monday by the Secretary to Anambra State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, the state working with relevant security agencies, has assured the people of Ihiala that adequate security arrangements have been made to protect life and property during the election.

The SGF noted that the election so far conducted in 20 LGAs was peaceful and the results successfully announced, a pointer to the fact that the poll at Ihiala would be hitch-free as well.

“All are encouraged to come out and vote for the candidate of their choice.
“As Ndi Ihiala may have observed, elections were successfully and peacefully held in the other 20 local government areas of Anambra state and INEC has duly announced the results.
“No incidence of violence or voter molestation was recorded in the Anambra gubernatorial election which held on Saturday, 6th November 2021.”
He also reminded the people that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had previously canceled its sit-at-home order earlier announced and encouraged “Ndi Anambra to come out and vote,” Chukwulobelu stated.
