Executive Chairman of Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has voiced a resolve of the agency to hunt down corrupt individuals within the nation, leveraging President Bola Tinubu’s determination to confront financial crimes head-on.

During a visit by Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Olukoyede addressed reporters, emphasizing that President Tinubu’s leadership is fostering an atmosphere conducive to anti-graft efforts, signaling an end to impunity for corruption.
“With the kind of President we have… it is clear he has provided the political will and leadership… There is no hiding place for the corrupt.”
Stressing the significance of EFCC and ICPC collaboration, Olukoyede reiterated the necessity of unified efforts in combatting corruption. “Once you are not playing according to the rules, we will investigate you. Nobody is too big to be investigated.”
The EFCC Chairman highlighted the magnitude of cases handled by both agencies, justifying their independent existence.
He emphasized the need for synergy between anti-corruption bodies in Nigeria due to limited resources and staff insufficient to tackle the overwhelming corruption issues.
Echoing Olukoyede’s sentiments, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, the ICPC Chairman, underscored the importance of collaboration and a strong working relationship between the ICPC and EFCC. “ICPC is very much ready to collaborate… to see how we can strengthen our relationship.”
The meeting, attended by senior management staff from both commissions, solidified the commitment of EFCC and ICPC to work hand-in-hand in combatting corruption within Nigeria.
