Prime Business Africa had reported that a section of the road collapsed which made a truck laden with diesel plying the road to cave in, causing the road to divide into two, leaving many road users alongside vehicles to be stranded.

Adeyemi revealed that federal government has engaged the services of Julius Berger Construction Company to repair the road so that movement of people and economic activities in the states being connected by the road can continue as usual.

Adeyemi added that they would fix the road within three days, noting that the unfortunate incident was as a result of blockage of natural flood channel with buildings and blocked drainage in the area which led to erosion that spoiled the road.

Commissioner for Works, Anambra State, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor who described the incident as very unfortunate, lamented on the hardship the situation has caused road users and residents of the area.

Ifejiofor thanked  the federal and state governments for responding promptly as the situation demanded.

He urged people who indulge in disposing debris and other solid waste materials inside drainage channels to desist forthwith stressing that its consequences are very devastating, even as he pleaded with the people to exercise patience as the repair work will be completed within a short period of time.

On his part, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, Mr Ade Irelewuyi noted that they are on ground,  controlling traffic along the road to avoid further casualty and assured that they would work in collaboration with both federal and state governments until the rehabilitation work is completed.
