The said incident took place in a Barcelona nightclub and it ultimately culminated in Alves being in detention since January without the option of bail.

A Spanish prosecutor, it has been disclosed, is seeking a prison term of nine years for the disgraced former Brazil star.

The prosecutor further asked for him to receive a restraining order following the jail term and for him to pay damages worth £130,000 to the woman.

Alves’ story with women have not been particularly made for interesting reading and he was complicated back in August.

A court in the Barcelona area had formally indicted Alves in August and later decided there was enough evidence to send him to trial.

Alves, capped 126 times for Brazil, was part of his country at the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

As a result of his predicament, his contract with Mexican club has been terminated after his arrest.

In Spain, a claim of r@pe is investigated under the general accusation of s3xual assault and convictions can lead to prison sentences between four and 15 years.
