The bank’s commitment to inclusivity shines through, with over 800 farmers already benefiting from new bank accounts and ATM debit cards. “Financial inclusion is key,” emphasized Mr. Adelana Ogunjirin, Head of Structured Trade Finance, stressing the bank’s efforts to bridge the rural-urban financial divide.

Central to their strategy is the cultivation of cassava, aiming not just for local sustainability but also eyeing increased foreign exchange earnings through processed agricultural exports.

“Sustainability, job creation, and boosting foreign exchange earnings are at the core of our approach,” Awe added.

Dr. Douglas Fabeke, CEO of Global Entrepreneurship City Limited, underscored the project’s significance. Plans for a cassava processing factory and an agricultural research center are on the horizon, aimed at empowering Ogoni farmers who have long struggled due to neglect and lack of resources.

Representing the Ogoni farmers, Mrs. Mary Eko Joe expressed gratitude, highlighting the support for widows and orphans. “The Alternative Bank has eased our struggles,” she remarked, echoing the optimism and appreciation shared among the farming community.

With a shared vision for upliftment and progress, this collaboration symbolizes a beacon of hope for Ogoniland, signaling a transformative journey toward sustainable agriculture and environmental revitalization.
