2024 WAFCON Qualifier: Super Falcons Begin Camping Saturday For Cape Verde

The Super Falcons will begin preparations for next week’s 13th Women Africa Cup of Nations final qualifying round, first leg clash with Cape Verde on Saturday with 21 players expected to report to camp.

Leading the list of players for the games include: Asisat Oshoala, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Osinachi Ohale, Rasheedat Ajibade, Uchenna Ucheibe and Gift Monday.

Conspicuously missing from the list of invited players include Ifeoma Onumonu, Ashleigh Plumptre, Onome Ebi and Francesca Ordega.

Interim coach Justin Madugu’s team will face the Cape Verdians on Thursday, 30 November 2023 at the MKO Abiola stadium, Abuja for the first leg of the fixtures while the return leg holds in Praia on December 5.

The invited players have until Monday evening – 27 November – to be in camp.

To qualify for the final round of the series, the Super Falcons recorded a commanding 5-1 aggregate win over Ethiopia, with the first leg in Addis Ababa ending 1-1 before a 4-0 lashing of the Lucy in Abuja.

The nine-time African champions have never failed to reach the Women Africa Cup of Nations since the competition was launched as the African Women Championship in Nigeria in 1998 and have swept nine out of the 12 titles since the inuagural edition of the tournament.
