In commemoration of Maulud – the birth of Prophet Mohammed SAW, Muslim faithfuls at Yan Doya Central Mosque in Kaduna State invited the General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Dr Yohanna Buru to lecture them on religious tolerance.

Addressing hundreds of Muslims at the Maulud Nabii at Yan Doya Mosque Central Market in Kaduna North LGA, Pastor Buru harped on the need for the peaceful coexistence of adherents of the different faiths in the country, even as he called on all Nigerians to pray for the peace and progress of the country.

He expressed delight about being invited every year to participate in the Maulud event where he and other Christian scholars are given the podium to speak on ways to foster peace and unity between Muslims and Christians in the state.

According to him, “the Maulud celebrations provide a golden opportunity for Christians and Muslims to interract, deliberate and dialogue on better ways to promote religious tolerance and foster peace and stability in the country”.

He recalled that during Ramadan fasts, the Chief Imam of the Mosque usually invites Christians to join Muslims in breaking their fast, adding that “this year alone, I have attended over 20 different Maulud celebrations and can tell that the celebrations help to promote peace and harmony in Kaduna State”.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, an Islamic scholar, Mallam Gambo Abdullahi Barnawa described Yohanna as a man of peace who has been recognised worldwide for his efforts in promoting peace and unity.

“He is renowned for his commitment to peace in Africa and parts of Europe,” he said and thanked the other Christian clerics for honoring their invitation to be at the Mosque for this year’s Maulud lecture.
