German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz Visits UNILAG's MAD House

The Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, on Monday visited the University of Lagos’s (UNILAG) MAD House.

As earlier reported by Prime Business Africa, the Chancellor is on a two-day visit to Nigeria alongside high-profile German delegation comprising CEOs from country’s premier corporations and a cultural entourage.

Upon his arrival on Sunday, October 29, 2023, Scholz held talks with President Bola Tinubu, setting the stage for his mission to boost bilateral ties between Nigeria and Germany. One of the key highlights was his attendance of the opening session of the Nigeria-Germany Business Conference, an event put together by the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce.

Scholz’s was able to engage with the innovative minds at the MAD House, located on the UNILAG campus, and become the first international visitor to access the facility via the picturesque Lagoon Front.

Professor Folasade Ogunsola, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, and her management team warmly received Chancellor Scholz and his entourage.

Inside the MAD House, Olaf Scholz shared a candid interaction with a group of enterprising startup entrepreneurs. Founded by Bayo Omoboriowo, former official photographer to Nigeria’s past President, Muhammadu Buhari, the MAD House has evolved into a creative incubation space aimed at nurturing raw ideas into tangible products and, eventually, entire industries.
