President Bola Tinubu has signed off on the appointment of Munirudeen Oyebamiji as the Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA); and Akutah Ukeyima as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC). Both agencies are under the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said the appointments align with the recommendations made by Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.

Alhaji Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, holds a Bachelors degree in Banking and Finance, as well as a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Business Administration. With over 28 years of experience in the industry, he’s a seasoned economist.

Oyebamiji made his mark in the public service by reversing the downward trajectory of the Osun State Investment Company Limited. His eight-year tenure as the Osun State Commissioner of Finance further solidified his expertise.

Mr. Akutah Ukeyima, the newly appointed Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), holds a graduate degree in Law and a Master’s degree in Public International Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

His last role as the Head of the Central Authority Unit, International Cooperation in Criminal Matters, Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, has equipped him with a strong legal background.

President Bola Tinubu has laid out a clear mandate for the newly appointed heads, tasking them to faithfully implement the policies and programs of the Honourable Minister in pursuit of expeditious and efficient revenue generation and investments.

This appointment is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda’s Blue Economy strategy, aimed at fostering economic growth and development in the maritime and blue economy sector.
