The Nigerian music industry is more competitive than it has ever been, everybody is expected to bring their best foot forward. After sharing our favourite albums and songs from the year 2022, we now get the chance to look ahead to 2023.
We are always diligently looking for new music, and although nothing is guaranteed, we present our top five Nigerian artists to watch out for in 2023, in no particular order:

He had a fantastic season in 2022, but partly due to labelling limitations, he could not break into the international scene at the level we all hoped for. Given how they handled his most recent project, that is about to change, as it is clear that they are ready to now expose him fully.

Bryann

While Bryann has been in the public eye since 2019, he got more attention in recent times, due to his participation in the Big Brother Naija Show. Bryann undoubtedly has what it takes to ascertain his relevance in the music scene. With a proper brand, a loyal fanbase, and a team like Empire following his recent affiliation with them, he is unquestionably a major force to be reckoned with in 2023. We can not wait for all the good music he has in store.

In the Nigerian music scene, street pop has always been a force to be reckoned with. Olamide and Phyno pioneered this path years ago, which has proven to be one of the industry’s most thriving genres. After garnering some success in 2022, like gaining a feature from the Godfather, Olamide, Blaze is poised for bigger things in the street pop lane, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.

Ekeh Chiaka Joseph, known professionally as Majeeed is a Nigerian Afropop Singer, and Songwriter signed to Dream Empire Music. He is known for his breakthrough single “Yawa No Dey End”, released in 2022 as the lead single off his extended play Bitter Sweet.
Majeeed is well on his way to greatness. His recent partnership with Empire Distribution, one of Africa’s biggest winners last year, only increases his chances of success in 2023.

Boy Spyce of Mavin Records is one of the few voices that has what it takes to end 2023 as a global star. He possesses all of the necessary elements, including finance, team, sound, and brand. His unreleased song ‘So Bad’ is already gaining traction and could be his first hit in the new year.
