2022 Grammy Awards Names Las Vegas Show Performers

Hours to the start of the 2022 Grammy Awards, the organisers on Sunday announced the list of presenters and performers for the event which will be broadcast early Monday morning  in Nigeria (Sunday evening in the USA).

Prime Business Africa reports that the Recording Academy, producers of the event, have elected to go a different way in a bid to make the 64th edition of the Grammy’s in Las Vegas, USA a memorable one.

Performers scheduled to thrill guests include: J Balvin, Maria Becerra, Jon Batiste, Brothers Osborne, BTS, Brandi Carlile, Billie Eilish, Cynthia Erivo, H.E.R., Lady Gaga, John Legend, Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, Maverick City Music, Nas, Aymée Nuviola, Leslie Odom, Ben Platt, Olivia Rodrigo, Silk Sonic, Chris Stapleton, Billy Strings, Carrie Underwood, and Rachel Zegler.

Meanwhile, some music acts were honoured on Saturday night, April 2, 2022, as the Recording Academy staged the first-ever Global Impact Award. Some of the winners include 12-time GRAMMY-winning artist, John Legend, music band, Love Renaissance, MC Lyte, D Nice, and Riggs Morales amongst others.

Almost 22,000 songs and albums were submitted for consideration this year, resulting in shortlists for the main categories being expanded from eight to 10 nominees for the first time.

There are 70 categories in total, with everyone from Lady Gaga to Barack Obama on the nominations list.

Unlike last year’s smaller event, which featured a mixture of live and pre-recorded performances, the 2022 ceremony will be a more normal show. The event was pushed forward after a three-month delay due to the surge of Covid cases in the US.
