Why I Dumped Education For Music Career – Bella Shmurda

Education is priceless but fast rising singer Akinbiyi Ahmed best known for his stage name as Bella Shmurda has opened up on why he had to initially leave school as an undergraduate of the Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo for his musical career.

The effervescent singer took to his Twitter page to explain reasons behind his action.

“Thank God I was stubborn and I never got to pass those exams then. Big thanks to Pocolee for telling me to do that vision2020 viral video, shoutout to Olamide for his listening ears and open hands for upcoming acts, ” the former Lasuite tweeted.

“I now worth over half a billion streams (550millions streams to be precise).

“I for still Dey LASU dey wine and dine with carryovers and stranded with nothing in my pocket… forever glad I did my thing.”

Bella who now completed his education in the same institution was nominated for the Headies Award for the next rated artiste in 2020 went viral after the release of his debut single ‘Vision 2020’ after he featured Olamide in the remix version.

The 24 year-old singer under the Win More record label has since released hit songs like Cash App featuring Zlatan.

 

The Nigerian is not to be confused with American rapper Bella Shmurda who was recently released on bail from prison.

Izuchukwu Okosi is a Nigerian sports and entertainment journalist with two decades of experience in the media industry having begun his media journey in 2002 as an intern at Mundial Sports International (MSI) and Africa Independent Television (AIT), owners of Daar Communications Plc.

In October 2004, Okosi joined Complete Communications Limited, publishers of Complete Sports newspaper and Complete Football magazine as a reporter and later script writer for the Complete Sports studio.

He worked there for 13 years until October 2017.

He also undertook freelance writing gigs for some local and international organizations.

Okosi is a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Association of Voiceover Artistes of Nigeria (AVOA), Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

He has been part of cast in some Nollywood movies and radio dramas including Blood Money 2, Scores To Settle, Dead End 2, Another Campus Tale and Battle Line.

Aside mainstream media and the entertainment industry, he has interests in scouting/unearthing of talents in the sports and creative sectors, exports business and property development.
