Former Ekiti state Governor Segun Oni who is vying for the same position in the 2023 general elections under the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expressed confidence that he will defeat his opponents at the polls.

Oni was guest of Arise News’ The Morning Show on Tuesday where he spoke on his feats whilst in government as monitored by Prime Business Africa.

“I was privileged to see projections made by (media and organizations) people who are really experienced who conduct polls. The polls are encouraging us that we’re doing very well.

“I want Nigerians to give us a bit more of time and wait for us until the election time to see the surprise that will happen,” Oni enthused.

The former Governor is convinced that the people of Ekiti are happy with the good job he did between 2017 and 2020 when he was in the seat of power in Ekiti state.

“Structurescare about people and we are about people. The people of Ekiti state are about to make a very solid point that they own the terrain and that they will not surrender what belongs to them to any institutions.

On some of the things he achieved as the Ekkiti Governor which stands him in good stead to make a comeback, Oni said:

“I brought digital experience to the senior secondary schools. I gave the boarding students individual students laptops. I wanted them to be friends with their laptops.

“Nobody has done much Roads as me and the roads are still there. They are not the roads that disappear after one or two rainy seasons.

“I completed 400km of roads with 500km of roads uncompleted,” Oni boasted.

“I gave arreas of pensions from 1994 from the time we were in old Ondo state. Not many people thought that we could pay it at once. Now I understand the gratuities are piling up.

“Those who received those pensions in 2012 or 2013 are not all dead. They are alive,” Oni added.
