January 15, 2024

Vinicius Junior’s first-half hatrrick was instrumental as Real Madrid romped to a 4-1 victory over 10-man Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Sunday night.

Real Madrid were effective on the wings as they made the width provided by Junior and Rodrygo Goes count to stretch the Blaugrana who played an unusual high line.

Madrid scored twice within the first 10 minutes of the game but Robert Lewandowski reduced the deficit just before the break.

Ronaldo Araujo brought down the nimble-footed Vinicius Junior and the referee made no hesitation in handing Carlo Ancelotti’s side a penalty.

Rodrygo them put the icing on the cake on the second half with a fantastic finish to ensure thataddod wins the contest in the one-sided ‘El Classico‘ away from Spain.

Araujo saw a second yellow card for a foul and was duly sent off.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are seven points above Barcelona in the La Liga table after Girona were held to a draw by Almeria on Sunday evening.
