US Election: Ex-DNC Vice Chair Calls On Leading Democrats To Urge Joe Biden To Withdraw From 2024 Race

US Election: Biden Pulls Out Of Presidential Race

Rybak’s Plea to Democratic Leaders

A former Democratic National Committee (DNC) vice chair has made a bold call to action, urging top Democrats to persuade President Joe Biden to step down from the 2024 presidential race.

R.T. Rybak, former Mayor of Minneapolis, expressed his concerns on Facebook, emphasizing the need for prompt action to prevent potential electoral defeat.

Fear of Political Retribution

Rybak criticized the reluctance of elected officials to voice their opinions publicly, despite acknowledging privately that Biden’s withdrawal is necessary.

“Our elected officials are staying shockingly silent in public, especially considering how many of them acknowledge privately that this has to happen,” he wrote. He highlighted the fear of political retribution as a significant factor behind their silence.

Historical Judgment

Rybak warned that failure to act could lead to severe consequences. “They fear political retribution but they should really fear that if we lose this election because they didn’t have the guts to do what they know needs to be done, holy hell and history will come down on them like an anvil,” he added.

This statement underscores the urgency of the situation, urging leaders to prioritize the future of the party over individual fears.

Alternative Candidates For Biden

In response to Biden’s recent debate performance, which faced widespread criticism, Rybak disputed the notion that no other Democrat could defeat former President Donald Trump.

He named several potential candidates, including Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who he believes could perform well in the race. “It is absolutely not too late to pick a new candidate,” Rybak insisted. He suggested a process involving forums, a straw poll, and delegate selection to choose a new nominee.

Praise and a Call for Change

While acknowledging Biden’s achievements, Rybak stressed the importance of focusing on future electoral success. “Biden deserves tremendous praise for his time as president, but people should not confuse gratitude for what he has accomplished with the need to win the 2024 presidential election over Trump,” he stated.

Rybak emphasized that elections are about the future, not past accomplishments.

Inspirational Message Needed

Rybak argued that Democrats have an inspirational message that is currently being overshadowed. He expressed concern that Trump, despite his controversial actions, could still win if the Democratic message does not resonate with voters.

“Elections are about the future and Democrats have an inspirational message that is not being told while a person with felony convictions who tried to steal the election and end our democracy looks like he could win,” Rybak wrote. “Not a single thing about that will change unless we — all of us — demand we change our messenger.”

Upcoming Democratic National Convention

The Democratic National Convention, scheduled for August 19-22, will be a pivotal moment for the party. As Biden has yet to be officially nominated, Rybak’s call to action may gain traction among those seeking a different path forward.

The outcome of this debate will significantly impact the party’s strategy and unity as they prepare for the 2024 election.

Rybak’s plea highlights the critical crossroads at which the Democratic Party stands, urging leaders to make bold decisions to secure future electoral success.
