A 300-Level Mass Communication student of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), Chinalurumogu Eze has won the 2023 Future Creative Leaders Academy (FCLA) Prize for the Roger Hatchuel Student Academy.

Consequently, she is to represent Nigeria at the Roger Hatchuel Student Academy (RHSA) in the Cannes Lion Festival in France by June 2023.

Nalu, as she is popularly known in UNN, won the prize following the first item of FCLA programme in which the participants were asked to create a 2-minute video to demonstrate why they should be given the tickets to attend the Festival. The essence of creating the video was for each participant to convince FCLA and Cannes Lion jury that he/she is qualified to represent the organisation at the RHSA.

A communication and media student of Ajayi Crowther University, Miss Oyinkansola Valerie Epidi, won the prize in  2022.

As winner of the 2023 edition of the competition, Chinalurumogu Eze will be sponsored by Chini Africa, the organiser of FCLA, a student platform of the Pitcher Festival of Creativity in Nigeria, to attend the five-day programme; celebrating, exploring, learning and networking festival (Cannes Lions International Festival) scheduled to hold from the 19th-23rd June 2023 in France.

FCLA is an initiative of the Pitcher Festival of creativity designed for students in universities and other tertiary institutions in Nigeria. It provides a platform for inspiring and immersing hopeful professionals into the world of advertising and other creative, marketing communications. Every year, the organisation organises the competition for about 30-40 students from different institutions and gives out different prices for the first, second and third winners. It chooses the overall winner to represent Nigeria in the RHSA at the Cannes Lions festival in France.

Chinalurumogu who is also the current Vice President of Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ) UNN, told Prime Business Africa (PBA) that she excited to have won the 2023 Prize.

“This is a huge opportunity for me. We’re talking of going to France! I’m very excited about it. This is a plus to my career and a plus to my networking skills,” she stated happily.

According to her, she would be receiving lectures from industry experts from different parts of the world with other 29 students, who would be attending from different countries and at the end, they would be awarded certificates.

“I will be representing Nigeria there, I will be attending Cannes Lions Festival, one of the biggest festivals in the world,” she added.

She went further to advise her fellow students to always keep their nose on the ground, so that when opportunities come, it will not pass them by. “When you see opportunities, grab them. Opportunities are all around us, but the most important question to ask is; are you aware of it and when it’s happening?” She stated.
