Flying Eagles Captain, Daniel Bameyi and Sierra Leone’s Momoh Kamara have received special recognition following the completion of the 18th edition of CAF U-20 AFCON on Sunday.
The duo made team of the tournament alongside other players but were given a pat on the back for exception display in the course of the championship.

Despite being debutants, Sierra Leone’s Momoh Kamara, emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with an impressive four goals, and Egypt’s Mohamed Goweily also received a recognition for his outstanding contributions.

The tournament saw champions South Africa and runners-up Morocco making a strong impression, with each nation boasting four players recognised in the Team of the Tournament. Recall that Bameyi also made team of the group stage.
The award for the coach of the tournament was given to South Africa’s Raymond Mdaka.
South Africa’s Tylon Smith however emerged Best Player of the tournament following his pivotal role in guiding the Amajita to their first-ever continental title.

The 19-year-old defender delivered consistently influential performances throughout the tournament and was instrumental in South Africa’s 1-0 victory over Morocco in Sunday’s final at the Cairo International Stadium.
Smith, known for his composure, creativity, and ability to dictate the tempo from defence, scored the crucial semi-final winner against Nigeria and proved vital in linking midfield and attack across the campaign.
South Africa capped off a historic tournament by sweeping key individual awards. Goalkeeper Fletcher Lowe was named Best Goalkeeper after keeping four clean sheets and recording the highest number of saves (24) during the tournament.

Lowe’s composure and reflexes were on full display in the final, where he denied Morocco on several occasions to preserve South Africa’s slim lead.
Momoh Kamara who is tournament highest scorer will not be forgotten in a hurry especially by Egypt who were victims of his stunning hat-trick is one of the breakout stars of the competition.
