According to reports monitored in the English media, the languid midfielder whose name was given to him by his dad who was an ardent fan of former Nigeria international Tijjani Babaginda whilst he played for Ajax FC in the Eredevisie will sign a five-year contract at City.

Manager Pep Guardiola will be without Mateo Kovacic for the Club World Cup who has been ruled out of the tournament after undergoing Achilles surgery.

City will not have the influential Kevin de Bruyne after he ran down his contract at the Etihad.

De Bruyne is expected to sign a contract at Serie A champions Napoli and work under manager Antonio Conte.

Reijnders has been capped 22 times by the Dutch national team and scored 15 goals in all competitions for the Rossoneri last season.

The midfielder was named the Serie A midfielder of the season.

Reijnders previously played for AZ Alkmaar and PEC Zwolle before making the move to Ajax.

Reijnders was also linked with a move to Liverpool and Barcelona as the summer transfer window kicks in.

The transfer window is opened temporarily between June 1 and June 10 – four days before the FIFA Club World Cup begins.

The window then returns on June 16 until the end of August 2025.

There have been some confirmed deals already in the short window thus far.
