President Bola Tinubu on Sunday held another meeting with Rivers State Gov. Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike as efforts continue to resolve a prolonged political standoff in the oil-producing state.
Presidency sources said the meeting took place Sunday night at the president’s official residence in Abuja. No details of the talks were released.
The meeting comes amid renewed tensions over political control in Rivers and stalled efforts by some state lawmakers to impeach Fubara.

Wike remains a leading figure in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, even as he holds office in the ruling All Progressives Congress-led government.
Local media have reported that Tinubu previously advised Fubara, a member of the APC, to recognise Wike as the party’s political leader in Rivers, a move that has deepened divisions within the state’s political class.
