Nigerian artists Tems and DJ Spinall, along with South African sensation Tyla, are set to grace the Coachella stage, adding a unique and vibrant flavour to the already diverse lineup

Headlining this year’s extravaganza are the incomparable Lana Del Rey, the chart-topping Doja Cat, the genre-defying Tyler, the Creator, and the iconic No Doubt. The festival’s 23rd installment boasts an extensive list of artists, showcasing a diverse range of musical genres and styles.

Joining the headline acts are acclaimed artists such as Peso Pluma, Blur, J Balvin, Ice Spice, Sublime, Lil Uzi Vert, Grimes, Victoria Monet, Jon Batiste, Bleachers, Justice, Deftones, and Lil Yachty. The lineup also spotlights emerging talents like Bizarrap, Khruangbin, and others, ensuring that Coachella remains a platform for both established and rising stars.

For those who secured tickets for the 2023/2022 festival, a loyalty presale starting on January 18 at 2 p.m. PT grants early access to passes. The general presale follows on January 19 at 11 a.m. PT, offering a chance for music enthusiasts worldwide to secure their spots at this highly anticipated event.

YouTube returns as the exclusive livestream partner for both Coachella weekends, allowing global audiences to experience the festival’s magic on the official YouTube channel. This partnership enhances accessibility, bringing the festival’s electrifying performances to fans around the world.

Noteworthy is the festival’s unique tradition of featuring a fourth headlining slot at the bottom of the poster. While the artist gains headliner billing through font size hierarchy, no specific date is assigned.

This intriguing element has perplexed festival-goers in the past, with its purpose remaining somewhat enigmatic. In previous instances, this slot has served as a late-night dance performance or acted as a backup headliner in case of cancellations. However, with No Doubt occupying this position in 2024, the significance becomes even more mysterious.

Insider sources reveal that Dua Lipa and Shakira, both set to release new albums in 2024, were contenders for headline slots. Lipa, reportedly due to scheduling conflicts, withdrew her candidacy, while festival organizers reportedly opted against Shakira. The decision-making process behind the headline selection adds an extra layer of intrigue to Coachella’s mystique.

A notable absence from the lineup is Rage Against the Machine, who were initially scheduled to headline the 2020 installment. Despite a relaunched reunion tour in 2022, the band faced setbacks due to a serious knee injury to singer Zach de la Rocha, leading to indefinite postponement of their planned dates.

Drummer Brad Wilk’s recent announcement that the group “will not be touring or playing live again” puts any future Coachella performances in doubt.

Reflecting on past editions, Coachella 2023 featured headliners Bad Bunny, Blackpink, and a last-minute replacement for Frank Ocean during the first weekend – Blink-182. Ocean’s elaborate ice-skating rink concept was dismantled at the last minute, resulting in a low-key performance that left some fans disappointed. The second weekend saw a switch to Blink-182 as Ocean canceled his appearance.

With Coachella already selling out all 125,000 per-day tickets, it reaffirms its status as North America’s largest music festival. The stage is set for an immersive experience that blends established stars and emerging talents, promising music lovers an unparalleled celebration of sound and culture.
