Super Falcons Are Africa’s Best Ever – Portugal Women’s Coach

Current Nigeria’s Super Falcons squad are the best Africa women’s side ever, according to Portugal Women’s national team head coach Francisco Neto.

Portugal played out a goalless draw against the nine-time African champions in a friendly on Wednesday.

The outstanding defensive and offensive play of the team coached by Justin Madugu impressed the Portugal head coach as he addressed the media.

The communication department of the Nigeria Football Federation quoted Neto on his impressions about the Falcons.

“Don’t forget our opponents are the best African team ever,” Neto praised.

The coach singled out the individual performance of midfielder Christy Ucheibe in his assessment of both teams’ preparations for their continental tournaments.

“Exceptional presence in midfield and she was everywhere. Her reading of the game and ability to disrupt our transitions really impressed me,” Neto added.

The Super Falcons are hoping to win a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco.

The WAFCON begins in Morocco on July 5 and ends on 26.

The Falcons have arrived in Casablanca ahead of the tournament but they have one more friendly before their group stage campaigns begins.

The team will face the Black Queens of Ghana on Sunday in a West Africa derby as they plan to strategize for the task ahead.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have launched the Mission X campaign to underline the desire to win the tournament.

The team were semifinalists at the last edition in 2023.

Meanwhile Portugal are gearing up for the 2025 Women’s European Championship.

Meanwhile the signing of first choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie by Brighton and Hoves Albion was confirmed on Friday as she moves from Paris FC after the expiration of her contract.

The Africa best goalkeeper has signed a two-year contract until the summer of 2027.
