Contrary to the opinion of former Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr about the quality of the the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), interim Technical Adviser, Augustine Eguavoen has advocated for significant investment in the Nigerian topflight as the players in the local league are hugely gifted.

Eguavoen who doubles as the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation has been mandated to carry on in his interim capacity and will now work with former international teammate Emmanuel Amuneke who is handed the job of Chief coach of the national team.

Eguavoen expressed his thoughts on his Facebook page.

“About a week ago. Lobi Stars 🆚 Kwara United.

“Talents abound so much in the Nigerian Professional Football League. NPFL Info 💚

“Let’s invest in our League. 🇳🇬 🦅,” the former Super Eagles right back wrote.

Since his reapportionment as the interim Technical Adviser of the team after the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON in Cameroon, Eguavoen has remarkably been visiting match venues during NPFL matches to watch the domestic players in action.

There will be midweek games on Matchday 13 of the NPFL season this Wednesday across the country.
