Stock Market Investors Pocket N10 billion, Academy, Honeywell Flour Drive Rebound

Nigeria’s  stock market, after trading on Thursday, returned to winning ways, as investors went home with about N10 billion, as capitalisation hit N27.80 trillion.

Nigerian bourse equity capitalisation grew by 0.01% from the N27.79 trillion it ended trading with on Wednesday.

The All Share Index rose marginally from 51,556.54 points to 51,563.73, gaining 7.19 basis points.

Over 143.28 million shares, worth N1.75 billion, was traded in 3,718 deals on Thursday, in contrast to the 135.25 million shares, exchanged in 3,745 deals worth N1.43 billion, on Wednesday.

Top five gainers

  • Academy gained N0.15kobo, after its stock price appreciated from N1.57kobo to N1.72kobo per share.
  • Nahco reported an uptick of N0.80kobo, as its share rose from N8.50kobo to N9.30kobo per share.
  • FTN Cocoa share went up by 9.38 percent, rising to N0.35kobo from N0.32kobo per share.
  • Honeywell Flour saw its share price gain N0.23kobo, increasing to N2.97kobo from N2.74kobo per share.
  • Ikeja Hotels recorded an appreciation of N0.10kobo, after the share went from N1.22kobo to N1.32kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • RT Briscoe share depreciated by 8.11 percent, dwindling from N0.37kobo to N0.34kobo per share.
  • UPDC share dropped in value by N0.10kobo, to settle at N1.17kobo from N1.27kobo per share.
  • Regal Insurance followed the same path, losing -7.41 percent after trading hours, to sell at N0.25kobo from N0.27kobo per share.
  • Japaul Gold reported a decline of 3.45 percent in its share, depreciating from N0.29kobo to N0.28kobo per share.
  • FBN Holdings share lost N0.35kobo from previous day’s N10.95kobo, dropping to N10.60kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Jaiz Bank reported 42.10 million shares valued at N36.60 million, were traded on its floor.
  • GTCO recorded 19.45 million shares valued at N396.76 million.
  • Sterling Bank saw investors trade 9.41 million of its shares worth N14.08 million.
  • UBA 6.86 million shares worth N51.36 million were exchanged.
  • Nahco reported that 5.17 million shares exchanged hands of investors, valued at N46.14 million.
