Stock Market Cap Up By N91.27 billion Despite Losses in Transcorp, Champion Brew, Others

Nigeria’s stock market capitalisation ended trading at N28.53 trillion on Friday, 28 April, rising by N91.27 billion from Thursday’s N28.44 trillion.

The All-Share Index appreciated by 167.63 basis points to 52,403.51 ASI, from rose from 52,235.88 ASI. 

About 3.12 billion shares were traded on the exchange floor on Friday in 5,573 deals worth N13.06 billion.

This contrasted with the 2.33 billion shares traded in 6,958 deals on Thursday, worth N17.61 billion. 

Top five gainers

  • Sovereign Insurance’s share appreciated by 10 per cent to rise from N0.30kobo to N0.33kobo per share.    
  • Berger grew by N0.70kobo, up from N7.10kobo to N7.80kobo per share.    
  • Cadbury ended trading with N13.50kobo from N12.30kobo per share, rising by N1.20kobo.  
  • CWG gained 9.38 per cent to end trading at N1.05, having opened with N0.96kobo per share.    
  • Fidelity Bank’s stock was up by N0.47kobo, closing at N5.67kobo from N5.20kobo per share.      

Top five losers 

  • Cutix depreciated by N0.25kobo, dwindling from N2.50kobo to N2.25kobo per share.       
  • Transcorp also fell by N0.31kobo to end trading at N2.81kobo, after opening at N3.12kobo per share.       
  • Champion Brew followed the same path, losing N0.47kobo after trading hours, to sell at N4.37kobo from N4.84kobo per share.       
  • Royal Exchange reported a decline of 9.68 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.62kobo to end trading at N0.56kobo per share.       
  • Livestock share depreciated to N1.04 from N1.15kobo, after losing N0.11kobo during trading hours.       

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Transcorp reported 2.73 billion shares, valued at N8.51 billion, were traded on its floor.     
  • Access Corporation recorded 82.77 million shares valued at N817.19 million.      
  • Fidelity Bank saw investors trade 54.69 million of its shares valued at N291.44 million.      
  • UBA recorded 43.80 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N291.44 million.       
  • Chams reported 32.05 million shares, valued at N8.94 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
