Stock Market Cap Rises To N76.76trn After Gaining N1.18trn

At the end of trading on Wednesday, June 25, the market capitalisation of the Nigerian stock market grew to N76.76 trillion, up from the N75.57 trillion recorded on Tuesday, June 24.

This indicates an increase of N345.34 billion or 1.22 percent increase in the stock market capitalisation, as the all-share index (ASI) rose by 1,466.87 basis points from 119,790.82 ASI to 121,257.69 ASI.

This followed the 1,211.17 basis points gained by the all-share index, which expanded from 118,579.65 ASI to 119,790.82 ASI.

Over 861,67 million shares were exchanged in 22,896 deals, worth N26,17 billion on Wednesday, compared to Tuesday’s 868,67 million shares traded in 22,207 deals, valued at N23.70 billion.

Top five gainers

  • Dangote Sugar’s share price increased by N4.40 kobo, to rise from N44 to N48.40 kobo per share.
  • Oando’s share value grew by N6.25 kobo, from N62.50 kobo to N68.75 kobo per share.
  • Champion ended trading at N10.91 kobo per share, from N9.92 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.99 kobo.
  • C&I Leasing gained N0.47 kobo to end trading at N5.18 kobo, having opened with N4.71 kobo.
  • CWG’s share value was up by N1.05, after closing at N11.60 kobo from N10.55 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • UPL’s share price depreciated by N0.40 kobo, dwindling from N6.40 kobo to N6 per share.
  • RT Briscoe recorded a N0.15 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.30 kobo after opening with N2.45 kobo per share.
  • Multiverse lost N0.45 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N8.75 kobo from N9.20 kobo per share.
  • Meyer reported a decline of N0.45 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N9.60 kobo to end trading at N9.15 kobo per share.
  • Consolidated Hallmark recorded a N0.13 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3 after opening with N3.13 kobo per share.

  • Fidelity Bank reported that 82.97 million shares valued at N1.65 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Caverton recorded 64.18 million shares valued at N319.68 million.
  • Zenith Bank saw investors trade 60.62 million of its shares valued at N3.44 billion.
  • Japaul Gold recorded 56.25 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N115.35 million.
  • Access Holdings reported 48.58 million shares valued at N1.12 billion exchanged in investors’ hands.
