Stock Market Cap Closes With N948bn Gain, UAC Nigeria Leads Gainers

The stock market capitalisation increased to N89.37 trillion on Friday, August 1, from N88.42 trillion on Thursday, July 31, representing a growth of N948.11 billion.

Also, the all-share index (ASI) expanded by 1,399.53 basis points, from 139,863.52 ASI to 141,263.05 ASI.

Traders were involved in 34,488 deals on Friday, exchanging 1.07 billion shares, valued at N26,85 billion, compared to Thursday’s 1.10 billion shares traded in 37,370 deals, worth N33,64 billion.

Top five gainers

  • UAC Nigeria’s share price increased by N8, to rise from N80.30 kobo to N88.30 kobo per share.
  • BUA Cement’s share value grew by N13 kobo, from N135 to N148 per share.
  • Veritas Kapital ended trading at N1.39 kobo per share, from N1.27 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.12 kobo.
  • Beta Glass gained N34.50 kobo to end trading at N408.50 kobo, having opened with N374.
  • Legend Internet’s share value was up by N0.52 kobo, after closing at N6.40 kobo from N5.88 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Champion Brew’s share price depreciated by N1.39 kobo, dwindling from N13.90 kobo to N12.51 kobo per share.
  • Oando recorded a N5.90 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N53.10 kobo after opening with N59 per share.
  • Dangote Sugar lost N7.35 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N66.15 kobo from N73.50 kobo per share.
  • Cornerstone reported a decline of N0.45 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N4.60 kobo to end trading at N4.15 kobo per share.
  • Abbey Mortgage Bank recorded a N0.57 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N5.27 kobo after opening with N5.84 kobo per share.

  • Fidelity Bank recorded 85.55 million shares valued at N1.8 billion.

  • Universal Insurance recorded 44.71 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N32.77 million.
  • Veritas Kapital reported 41.53 million shares valued at N57.17 million were exchanged by investors.
