Sponsorship Of 1,000 Imo Pilgrims, height of Uzodimma’s Achievements – Aide

May 30, 2023

The sponsoring of 1,000 Imo State citizens for the 2023 pilgrimage to Jordan and Israel has been described as one of the greatest achievements of Governor Hope Uzodinma since his assumption of office.

Mr. Modestus Nwamkpa, Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Print Media stated this while reacting to the claims by some people that the over 1.8 billion Naira used for sponsoring the pilgrims could have been channeled to the developmental projects of the state government.

Nwamkpa said that while some people may not understand the immediate the essence of the sponsorship, the spiritual exercise is for the general interest of the people and the state.

He furthered that, “instead of the oppositions wasting their time thinking of how to fault whatever the governor has done, they should rather collectively join hands in support for the governor in his determination to move the state forward for the general good of all.”

Nwamkpa, who used the opportunity to applaud Governor Uzodinma for his leadership dexterity and landmark achievements, also solicited collective support for him to continue his good works in the state; adding that, “Imo people should expect a double turnaround from this spiritual exercise.”

He said, “how can somebody say that sponsoring pilgrims is a waste of the state resources? It is not because earth’s great treasure lies in human personality and service to humanity is the greatest is the greatest work of life. For me, it is even the pivotal or the height of the Governor’s achievements.

“Honestly, what the Governor has done, people may not understand the gains today. Yes, it is good to provide good roads, water and other social amenities of life or provide infrastructural developments for the people as a government but I tell you, this particular project is one of the greatest things I will even recommend to every governor.

“Again, how can this be a waste of the state’s resources. The people that are here are Imolites, they are not here for jamboree. They are also here to pray for the state and the governor. So, it is a worthwhile thing, commendable and of immense benefits to the state and the entire Imolites.

“Of course, such claim can only come from those who brand themselves as opposition elements; who don’t want to see the good in the governor and the good in the state. But unfortunately for them, Imo has moved on; the governor is doing well and Imo people are happy with him.” he added.

Also, speaking on his expectations from the batch C pilgrims, the governor’s print media aide said, “Imo pilgrims here are already praying for the state and the country especially in this period of insecurity. We are all aware that the state and the country need our prayers. Perhaps, this may be the reason why the governor thought it wise to package this kind of spiritual exercise.

In fact, from what the Governor even said, the prayers of the pilgrims are already working. And of course if you remember what Imo was before now, you will believe that the governor couldn’t have achieved this much and Imo could not have been this better without God.

“So the contingents here, just like the previous ones, we have been praying for the peace and unity of the state and that of the country. We are also praying for God to give the governor the strength, wisdom and the courage to continue with the good things he is doing. And I know that God who answers prayers will listen to us and grant us our individual and collective heart desires.”
