Anxiety In Imo As Unknown Gunmen Murder Anglican Priest

A priest of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rev Emeka Merenu has been killed by suspected gunmen in his parsonage at Iheteukwa, Orsu Council Area of Imo State, yesterday.

Prime Business Africa gathered that the assailants after killing deceased, also burnt his car.

Reason for his killing was yet to be assertained until the time of filing this report.

However, the state Police spokesperson, Michael Abattam confirmed the incident and said the command has begun investigation towards apprehending those behind the heinous crime.

It was also gathered that the late cleric hailed from Nkwerre, a neighbouring council area in the state.

A reliable source also told Prime Business Africa that the incident thrown the entire Anglican communion in the state into serious shock and mourning.

He said, “the murder of the Reverend is a tragedy and a very sad one to the entire Anglican Communion. With this ugly incident, everybody now is scared and uncertain about our security in this state.

Principal when they were looking for the substantive principal of St Augustine’s Grammar School, Nkwerre Imo State (SAGS).”

Also, till the time of filing this report, neither the Parish council nor the leadership of the Anglican Church in the state has issued an official statement over the incident.
