Seun Kuti Resumes Europe Tour Amidst Legal Battle

Renowned Afrobeat musician, Seun Anikulapo Kuti, has triumphantly resumed his summer tour across Europe after facing a distressing encounter with law enforcement.

Having secured his release on bail, Kuti wasted no time in pursuing his passion, eager to reconnect with his fans and share his powerful music.

On the evening of May 25, 2023, Seun Kuti announced his departure for Zurich, Switzerland, where his eagerly anticipated concert would mark the commencement of his European tour.

Taking to Instagram, he posted a snapshot of himself aboard an airplane, accompanied by the exciting caption, “Euro tour kicks off tonight in Zurich.”

Originally scheduled to take place from May 20 to August 16, 2023, Kuti’s tour faced an unexpected setback when he was arrested on May 15, 2023. Video footage captured the artist engaging in a physical altercation with a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge, resulting in his subsequent detainment at the state criminal investigation Department (SCID).

For six long days, Kuti remained in custody, uncertain of his future and the impact it would have on his musical aspirations. Fortunately, Seun Kuti managed to fulfill the requirements for his release and was set free. However, the legal proceedings surrounding his case are set to continue, with the next hearing scheduled for July 3, 2023.

Despite this impending challenge, Kuti decided to seize the opportunity to embark on his tour, recognizing the significance of connecting with his devoted fan base during these trying times.
