RMD, Ini Edo, Others Set To Receive Special Acting Awards

The prestigious Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) is all set for its 12th edition scheduled from November 5 to November 11 in Lagos State. This year, AFRIFF is gearing up to honour 11 outstanding Nollywood actors for their remarkable performances in films released over the past year with special acting awards.

Leading the honours list is Blossom Chukwujekwu, whose performance in “The Trade” garnered widespread acclaim and earned him a nomination for the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for Best Actor in a Drama.

Joining him in this line-up is Chidi Mokeme, who awed Nigerians with his performance as Scar in “Shanty Town.” Tobi Bakre, the recipient of the Best Actor award at the AMVCA ceremony in May, secures his spot on the AFRIFF honours list for his action-star role in “Brotherhood” and his performance in “Gangs of Lagos.”

Kunle Remi, who previously missed an AMVCA nomination, will finally get the recognition he deserves for his outstanding lead role in “Anikulapo.”

Richard Mofe-Damijo, whose portrayal of Paul Edima in the record-breaking Netflix film, “The Black Book,” is nothing short of career-defining. He, too, will be among the esteemed recipients of an AFRIFF award.

Other remarkable actors set to receive these special acting awards include Nse Ikpe-Etim for her stirring performance in “4-4-44,” Ini Edo for her colourful portrayal alongside Chidi Mokeme in “Shanty Town,” Lateef Adedimeji and Femi Adebayo-Salami for their standout roles in the Yoruba epic hit, “Jagun Jagun.”

Chioma Chukwuka, celebrated for her role in “Gangs of Lagos,” and Funke Akindele, recognized for her performance in “Battle on Buka Street,” are also included in this list.
