The future of Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro will be decided by the opinion poll to be conducted by the Nigeria Football Federation, reports Prime Business Africa.

Peseiro who was hired by the Football ruling body in Nigeria in May 2022 will see his contract come to its end on June 30 but despite achieving qualification to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivorie, the NFF are hesitant to offer him a fresh deal.

The former Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Sporting Lisbon, Benfica coach has been hugely criticised for his tactical approach to games.

Peseiro who was reportedly recommended to the Nigeria Football Federation previously under the leadership of Amaju Melvic Pinnick by AS Roma manager, Jose Mourinho, also earns a huge sum of $70,000 per month which his employers are increasingly finding difficult to continue paying.

“We have the plan to push the votes to Nigerians to hear their views and thoughts,” NFF president Gusau announced during an interview on a radio show monitored in Lagos.

“Maybe we didn’t get it right in the area of getting the right person.

“We are surely going to push it to the public, whether we should continue with Peseiro or he should go.”

“Whether we are going to consider an indigenous coach, we are also going to push that to Nigerians on the phone,” Gusau who became the country’s football chief in September 2022 disclosed.

Under the coaching reins of Peseiro, Nigeria have won four and lost five games.

Those games include a 10-0 thrashing of Sao Tome and Principe and a 1-0 defeat at home to Guinea-Bissau. The team were also beaten 4-0 by Portugal and Mexico respectively in international friendlies.

Last Sunday, the Eagles laboured hard to beat Sierra Leone 3-2 and qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
