‘Pray For Ibadan’ Trends Following Gas Explosion In State

On Tuesday evening, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, was jolted by a deafening explosion that echoed through the areas of Agbowo, Sango, Orogun, and Bodija.

The aftermath revealed an unspecified number of people injured and a trail of destruction in its wake. Prime Business Africa reports that the blast, suspected to be caused by a gas explosion, wreaked havoc on Bodija Housing Estate, resulting in the destruction of no fewer than 20 houses.

Emergency services swiftly responded to the crisis, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.

Eyewitness accounts, such as Mr. Bode’s, shed light on the extent of the damage. “I have counted at least 20 houses that were affected by the explosion,” he remarked.

At the time of this report, security agents have cordoned off the affected street, investigating the incident and ensuring public safety. Meanwhile, calls for blood donations are gaining momentum on social media, with the hashtag #PrayForIbadan trending on various platforms, including the former Twitter, X.

In related news, the Oyo State government has enjoined the residents of the state to be calm, following the massive explosion that rocked Ibadan, the capital city on late Tuesday evening.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation in the state, Prince Dotun Oyelade, all security service chiefs including para-military chiefs and fire operatives have been deployed by the governor to rein in the spillover from the explosion.
