The operation, carried out by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), resulted in the arrest of 40 individuals suspected of various illicit activities.

According to the command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, the raids targeted known hotspots for criminal activities such as drug trafficking, robbery, and illegal arms dealing.

Hundenyin in a post on his X handle, said that acting on intelligence reports, the police swiftly moved in to apprehend the suspects, leading to the recovery of illicit drugs, weapons, and stolen goods.

The RRS commander, Mr. Olayinka Egbeyemi, commended the efforts of the officers involved in the operations and emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order in the community.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adegoke Fayoade, reiterated the police force’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Lagos residents and urged the public to continue providing information to assist in combating criminal activities.

Hundeyin provided updates to the press, highlighting the successful arrests and the ongoing interrogation of the suspects to gather more information about their criminal activities and potential connections to larger criminal networks.

“RRS on Tuesday night arrested 40 suspected criminals at different black spots within Yaba.

“The 40 suspects were arrested when the operatives of RRS, working with members of Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, swooped on the areas.

“The raid was sequel to complaints from members of the public about the activities of criminals who waylay passersby and rob them of their belongings,” Hundenyin stated.

Residents of Yaba, who expressed concerns about the rise in criminal activities in the area, commended the police operatives for the arrests. Many have expressed gratitude to the police for their efforts in maintaining peace and order in the community.
