Peseiro Recalls Ndidi, Osimhen, Etebo, Onuachu In Nigeria’s Squad For Portugal Friendly

Super Eagles captain William Troost Ekong, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, Aris Thessaloniki new signing, Oghenekaro Etebo, Paul Onuachu and SS Napoli star striker Victor Osimhen top the list of 23 players invited by head coach Jose Peseiro for the international friendly match against Portugal next week Thursday reports Prime Business Africa.

Peseiro named two new players Bright Osayi Samuel and Bruno Onyemaechi who play for Fenerbahce FC of Turkey and Boavista FC of Portugal respectively in the team.

There had been a list said to be the confirmed one for the game but Prime Business Africa scooped that the ‘leaked’ list was indeed a farce.

The team will head to Lisbon after this weekend’s league games across Europe.

Thursday’s encounter at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon will kick off at 18.45pm Portugal time (19.45pm in Nigeria) a d is expected to be televised live by some pay television channels.

The game is Nigeria’s last for the calender year 2022 before attention shifts to the return of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March 2023.

Also in the team are regulars Calvin Bassey, Samuel Chukwueze, midfielders Ayodele-Aribo and Alex Iwobi, and forwards Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, Maduka Okoye and Tyrone Ebuehi who was at some point injured but has regained fitness.

Left back Ebube Duru is the only home-based player in the squad meaning no wildcard for Dominion Ohaka who was impressive in the recent friendly against Costa Rica which the home-based Eagles lost 2-0 in the of San Jose.
