Delta state Governor is declared the favoured one despite media speculation on Wike's choice
June 16, 2022

Despite media reports that made the rounds over the selection of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as the running mate to Peoples Democratic Party aspirant Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday evening, Delta state Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has emerged as the chosen one Thursday morning ahead of the 2023 general elections reports Prime Business Africa.

Some media publications (not Prime Business Africa) reported that the Committee saddled with the responsibility of picking Atiku’s would-be vice presidential candidate had settled for Wike albeit the official website of the party did not publish same as confirmation.

Okowa widely regarded as easy-going and non controversial beat Governor Wike and Governor Udom to emerge as Mr Atiku’s running mate. He supported Atiku in the primary where Rivers Governor Wike was his closest challenger.

Governor Okowa will appear before a screening committee of the party later today (Thursday, 16 June, 2022).

Political parties have until June 17 (tomorrow) to submit lists of their candidates for the 2023 elections to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
