Over N97.57bn Lost To Selloffs In UAC Nigeria, Champion Brew

About N97.57 billion was lost in the Nigerian stock market on Friday, dragging the market capitalisation down to N34.06 trillion, from Thursday’s N34.16 trillion. 

This followed the 179.21 basis points drop in the All-Share Index, which fell to 62,569.73 ASI, from 62,748.94 ASI.

Over 600.48 billion shares, valued at N8.82 billion, exchanged investors’ hands in 9,554 deals, against the 798.46 million shares traded in 10,296 deals, worth N10.44 billion. 

Top five gainers  

  • Nascon’s share appreciated by N2.55 kobo to rise from N25.50 kobo to N28.05 per share.   
  • John Holt grew by N0.16 kobo, up from N1.65 kobo to N1.81 kobo per share.   
  • Skyway Aviation ended trading with N14.75 kobo from N13.45 kobo per share, rising by N1.30 kobo.   
  • TIP gained 8.93 per cent to end trading at N0.61 kobo, having opened with N0.56 kobo per share.    
  • Guinea Insurance’s stock was up by 8 per cent, closing at N0.27 kobo from N0.25 kobo per share.   

Top five losers 

  • UAC Nigeria depreciated by N1, dwindling from N10 to N9 per share.     
  • Champion Brew also declined by N0.35 kobo to end trading at N3.15 kobo, after opening at N3.50 kobo per share.     
  • Wema Bank followed the same path, losing N0.45 kobo after trading hours, to sell at N4.05 from N4.50 kobo per share.     
  • Flour Mill reported a decline of N3.40 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N34 to end trading at N30.60 kobo per share.     
  • McNichols’ share depreciated to N0.63 kobo from N0.70 kobo, after losing 10 per cent during trading hours.   

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Access Corporation reported 94.16 million shares, valued at N1.42 billion, were traded on its floor.  
  • UBA recorded 54.11 million shares valued at N669.33 million.   
  • Fidelity Bank saw investors trade 48.69 million shares valued at N318.85 million.   
  • Zenith Bank recorded 36.42 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.14 billion.   
  • Transcorp reported 36.42 million shares, valued at N116.73 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
