International Energy Insurance, Zichis Agro Among Losers As NGX Loses N440bn

On Tuesday, over N681.06 billion was lost in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market.

The loss reduced the market capitalisation of the stock market to N155.37 trillion, from N156.05 trillion reported on Monday.

In the same vein, the all-share index (ASI) decreased to 242,100.7 ASI, from 243,161.52 ASI, indicating a 1,060.82 basis points loss.

There was an increase in the volume of shares traded on Tuesday after over 1 billion shares were traded in 87,753 deals, valued at N58.06 billion, surpassing the 967.46 million shares traded in 122,041 deals, valued at N43.84 billion, on Monday.

Top Five Gainers

  • MCNichols’ share price increased by N0.72 kobo, from N7.20 kobo to N7.92 kobo per share.
  • RT Briscoe’s share value grew by N1.17 kobo, from N11.70 kobo to N12.87 kobo per share.
  • Zichis’ share appreciated by N2.28 kobo, to end trading at N25.08, having opened with N22.80 kobo.
  • Dangote Sugar’s share ended trading at N84.30 kobo per share, from N76.65 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N7.65 kobo.
  • Consolidated Hallmark’s share value was up by N0.57 kobo, after closing at N6.29 kobo, from N5.72 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Guinness share price depreciated by N49.70 kobo, dwindling from N497 to N447.30 kobo per share.
  • MTN Nigeria recorded a N79 decline in its share price to end trading at N836, after opening with N915 per share.
  • Sovereign Insurance recorded a N0.19 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.09, after opening with N2.28 kobo per share.
  • FGSUK2032S7 lost N8.69 kobo in its share price, to sell at N111.30 kobo, down from N119.99 kobo per share.
  • Aradel reported a decline of N116 from the previous share price of N1,996, to end trading at N1,880 per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • FCMB reported that 156.82 million shares valued at N1.72 billion were traded on its floor.
  • GTCO recorded 67.67 million shares valued at N9.41 billion.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 60.75 million of its shares valued at N1.54 billion.
  • Fidelity Bank recorded 45.20 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N848.37 million.
  • Jaiz Bank reported that traders exchanged 40.59 million shares valued at N386.66 million.
