Investors Lose N426.06 billion, As Sell-off Rocks BUA Foods, Seplat On Nigerian Stock Market

How Loss Of Over $5 Trillion In U.S. Stock Exchange Affects Nigeria

Investors lost over N426.06 billion on Tuesday, resulting to the market capitalisation closing down at N26.18 trillion.

This was due to sell off among traders, which caused the market capitalisation to depreciate by -1.60%, having closed Monday’s trading with N26.61 trillion.

Today’s sell off reflected on the All-Share Index, which lost 789.91 basis points, ending trading at 48,554.76 ASI, below the previous day’s 49,344.67 ASI.

Meanwhile, investment into the Nigerian bourse was capped at about N3.18 billion, which investors parted with to exchange 204.15 million shares in 3,533 deals.

It surpassed the 122.73 million shares traded in 3,915 deals worth N1.30 billion on Monday.

Top five gainers

FTN Cocoa share appreciated by 10 percent to rise from N0.30kobo to N0.33kobo per.

NEM stock grew N0.40kobo, up from N4 to N4.40kobo per share.

Honeywell Flour ended trading with N2.89kobo from N2.63kobo per share, rising by N0.26kobo.

UPL gained N0.17kobo to end trading at N1.89kobo, having opened with N1.72kobo.

Mutual Benefit stock was up by 7.41 percent, closing with N0.29kobo, from N0.27kobo per share.

Top five losers

BUA Foods depreciated by N5.95kobo, dwindling from N59.95kobo to N54 per share.

NNFM also fell by N0.85kobo to end trading at N7.75kobo, after opening with N8.60kobo per share.

Seplat followed the same path, losing N119.90kobo after trading hours, to sell at N1300 from N1419.90kobo per share.

Eterna reported a decline of N0.55kobo from previous day’s share price of N6.60kobo to end trading at N6.05 per share.

Nahco share depreciated to N5.50kobo from N5.95kobo, after losing N0.45kobo during trading hours.

Top five trading equities

Mutual Benefit reported 44 million shares valued at N12.76 million were traded on its floor.

Zenith Bank recorded 25.19 million shares valued at N554.79 million.

FBN Holdings saw investors trade 22.09 million of its shares valued at N236.87 million

Access Corp recorded 12.97 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N107.72 million

UBA reported 11.17 million valued at N78.83 million, exchanged investors hands
