Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has congratulated Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the release of the 137 school children that were abducted on March 7, 2024 in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Dr. Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, said the President-General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, extended his felicitations to the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani over this exceptional feat.

The Igbo leader said: “It is very heartwarming that President Bola Tinubu had shortly after the abduction stated that Government would not negotiate with the kidnappers and assured Nigerians that the school children would be rescued.”

Ogbonnia said the President-General expressed delight over the new development, adding that “it is, indeed a paradigm shift from the previous deplorable relationship that had existed between the kidnappers, bandits and miscreants on one hand and the Nigerian governments on the other.”

The Igbo Leader enthused that the courage, tenacity, commitment, content and character displayed by Mr. President towards a ransom-free release of the school children is an indication of several greater things to come. “Evidently, the notorious double dealers, collaborators, bandit apologists, negotiators and unrepentant accomplices to the kidnappers will soon be put out market,” the Igbo leader further asserted.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo appreciates the roles played by the locals, the good people of Kuriga community and the Chikun local government area to achieve the exceptional success. This goes to reinforce the Ohanaeze Ndigbo position on the need to restructure the Nigerian security system to reflect degrees of autonomy at state, local government and community levels. This is because the local security operatives are very conversant with the local terrain, topography, language and cultural cosmology of their environments and are best placed to combat crimes in their various jurisdictions.

“In practical and comparative terms, there is hardly any known federal system that operates a central security architecture.
