In a turn of events for retirees in Ogun State, the Chairman of the Local Government Pensioners Association of Nigeria (LOGPAN), Benedict Ademoye, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration for the timely release of gratuities, saving the lives of many local government retirees.

Addressing journalists on Thursday, Ademoye expressed gratitude for the state government’s support, emphasizing the impact it had on retirees’ lives.

He  highlighted that the gratuity disbursement, totaling 564 payments in the last year, has alleviated the financial burdens of pensioners.

“In the last year, 564 local government pensioners have received their full gratuities, a gesture that has been a lifeline for many,” Ademoye stated. “The release of N1.9 billion by Governor Abiodun’s administration for outstanding gratuities has further provided relief, benefiting 369 retirees.”

He underscored the critical role these funds played in addressing retirees’ medical needs. “Funds were directed to pensioners facing medical challenges, ensuring that no pensioner associated with our group passed away due to a lack of financial means to cover medical expenses in the last year,” he added.

The chairman hailed the governor’s commitment to the pensioners’ cause, acknowledging the positive impact of the financial support. This effort, Ademoye emphasized, not only provided financial stability but also contributed significantly to the retirees’ overall well-being.

The Governor’s intervention through these gratuity payments reflects a commendable step towards prioritizing the welfare of retirees, ensuring their dignity and access to essential medical care, and offering hope for a secure post-retirement life.
